Hardfacing

Hardfacing is one of welding methods based on applying a layer of material on melted base surface of metal objects. It allows repairing the loss in material or obtain its new properties.

Pompax uses the hardfacing metod in regeneration and maintenance of devices and pumping systems.

What else is worth knowing about hardfacing?

Hardfacing is applying an additional material on the surface of melted base. As a result, a padding weld is created, consisting of the original material and weld. There are two methods of hardfacing: gas and electric.

During this process, the additional material is also used, such as band, rod, wire or powder. The padding weld layer is usually 0.05mm to 100mm thick.

If you have an elements in the pumping system or a pump which suffered minor damage but you don't want to get rid of it and you know you can repair it, you can regenerate it by means of hardfacing.
During this process, alloys with similar properties to the repaired (damaged) object can be used, as well as harder alloys. Thanks to that, the element will be even more durable after the regeneration.

Naturally, this method is not always cost-effective, and sometimes it is not even possible. In this case, the purchase of a new product is a much better solution.

In order to check if this method is applicable for regeneration / repair of your device, please contact Pompax specialists.
